Season 1 Episode 34
“Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier.” - Colin Powell
Being optimistic makes us better and more effective at everything we do. I believe that. Former Secretary of State Powell believed that. I know what some of you are saying: Your belief is good but what kind of evidence do you have to support that claim.
Turns out, there’s quite a bit. Optimism is linked to longevity and improved health in two recent studies. In a racially and ethnically diverse group of women the study found that the most optimistic women lived over four years longer than the least optimistic ones
The study also asked if this was just a correlation. Perhaps the optimistic women simply made healthier choices and that’s why they lived longer. The study found that was about 25% of it. But the optimism itself matters.
Optimism truly is a force multiplier. Peace be with you.
