a.k.a. How nightmare plagues every dream of God's Kingdom                                  -

Many evils have been perpetrated in the name of Christianity; even now, there seems to be many individuals who justify their bigotry, hatred, or violence, by appealing to Christianity. The same, of course, happens with other religions, and even non-religious and anti-religious ideologies. But, the real question is, why?

This episode explores one key vector of such evil, and it begins with this point: evil is parasitical to the good. And just before Jesus began his mission to save the world, the devil offers him three temptations; each was an attempt to ensure that evil could feed off from what Jesus would accomplish. Jesus rejected these temptations; we usually did not.

00:00 - The pressing question about evils of (ir)religion   /
04:17 - Evil as absence of good  /
07:34 - Evil as parasitical to the good   /
11:53 - Good as a mask for evil  /
14:18 - Self-righteous evil, then and now  /
19:07 - Three temptations of Jesus  /
25:13 - What Jesus rejected and why we don’t  /
