Gas Engineers Billy & Kaz: Going Solo, Tool Theft and Life on the Tools
Description
Can two gas engineers share a life but keep their businesses separate? Billy and Kaz reckon they can, even if dinner occasionally turns into a debrief about boilers.
In Season 1, Episode 4 of Off The Job: A Tradesman Podcast, Kaz talks about her 22 years at British Gas, becoming a self-employed gas engineer and the assumptions she has faced as a woman in the trade. Billy shares his route from the Royal Engineers into domestic and commercial gas work, then explains what happened when thieves emptied his van outside his home.
Keiran Yates and Pete Withers also get into working alone, finding support from other engineers, and the important matter of who gets custody of a hypothetical camper van at weekends.
If you’re new here, Off The Job is a UK trades podcast with honest conversations from people on and off the tools. Expect useful stories, questionable tangents and strong language.
