When Love Pours In, Hope Flows Out
“And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” – Romans 5:5
Paul had spent much of his previous life not just as a religious fanatic but as a dangerous one as well. In his previous understanding, God was a demanding task master with standards one could scarcely if ever meet. Paul then known as Saul went around persecuting those that did not live up to his standards.
Then something happened to him on the road to Damascus, profound encounter with God. And then the miracle happened. Paul didn’t really know what to think. But the people who he had previously persecuted took him in. They showed him patience and love, hospitality, and kindness. The love they poured in transformed him.
Saul changed his name to Paul. He had a hoped based vision of the world where humanity came together across all divisions. He even hoped that Rome itself could be redeemed.
The love poured in allowed Paul’s hope for a different world to flow out. Peace be with you.
