The Colombian National Police is investigating reports of an alleged coup d'état against President Gustavo Petro, after eight months ago the same president denounced that the right-wing opposition was orchestrating a coup against his government. The director of the National Police, General William Salamanca, confirmed that the institution is investigating the possibility of a coup against Petro.
Local media showed a series of documents related to the destabilization plan through blockades of streets and avenues, as well as political demonstrations.
On Wednesday it was reported that the Colombian Attorney General's Office ordered the provisional suspension for a period of three months of Chancellor Álvaro Leyva.
