Season 1 Episode 24
Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant. Robert Louis Stevenson
We currently live in a data driven society. In the name of objectivity, productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness both public and private institutions- profit and nonprofit organizations have quantified seemingly everything. Decisions are made based on metrics.
Many of us have brought data driven decision making to our personal lives as well. There is much to commend this approach. But we need to make sure that we are measuring the right things.
Many of us are looking for a harvest before we have planted and cultivated a crop. If we to evaluate ourselves, let us do so based on the seeds we sow, not the harvest we reap. Let us measure ourselves by what we have contributed rather than what we have gained.
Peace be with you.
