The black church manipulates black women into staying single to meet their financial and growth needs. They are so distracted from getting and keeping a man because the needs of the church are of a higher calling. The Pastor becomes the proxy mate or husband for the unmarried and nondating women in the church, even when sex is not involved. They are the spiritual head as well as the emotional head of these women. Church activities and leadership roles keep them occupied and less focused on developing a meaningful relationship with someone other than the church
