Scott Peterson, now 51 years old, has consistently proclaimed his innocence since the beginning. The disappearance of his wife, Laci Peterson, who was eight months pregnant at the time, on the day before Christmas in 2002 sparked a highly publicized and closely monitored murder case. Four months later, the remains of Laci, 27, and her unborn son, Conner, were discovered in San Francisco Bay in a severely decomposed state.
Scott Peterson, Laci's husband, became the primary suspect in the case after claiming he was out fishing when his pregnant wife went missing. In 2004, he was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder and subsequently sentenced to death row in 2005. However, this sentence was overturned in 2020.
Despite Scott's unwavering insistence on his innocence, Laci's family firmly believes that he is responsible for the deaths of Laci and Conner. Now, with the assistance of the Los Angeles Innocence Project, Scott is striving for an opportunity to prove his innocence and secure his freedom.
