[בקשר לענין יצי"מ שבפ' בא:] עשרת הדברות מתחילות עם "אנכי הוי' אלקיך אשר הוצאתיך מארץ מצרים", והרבה מצוות הם "זכר ליציאת מצרים". וזהו מפני ששלימות קיום כל מצוה ומצוה תלוי' ביציאת מצרים: כדי שלימוד התורה וקיום המצוות יהיו כדבעי – בלי פניות, ורק כדי למלאות רצונו ית', ובמילא ילמד גם מה שהוא לא רוצה, ויקיים גם את המצוות שלא נראים לו – ה"ז דוקא ע"י הקדמת היציאה מכל המיצרים וגבולים! וזהו מה שחסידות תובעת, וזהו ה"א"ב" של חסידות, ש"ראשית העבודה ועיקרה ושרשה" (- לא שלימות העבודה) תהי' קבלת-עול והנחת עצמותו – היציאה מכל המיצרים וגבולים.

[In connection with the Exodus from Egypt in Parashas Bo:] The Aseres Hadibros begin with “I am Hashem your G-d Who took you out of the land of Egypt.” Likewise, many mitzvos serve as “a reminder of the Exodus from Egypt.” It is because the completeness of all mitzvos depends on the Exodus from Egypt: in order for one’s Torah study and performance of mitzvos to be done properly, without ulterior motives, and solely to fulfill Hashem’s will (so that one will learn even what he doesn’t want to, and keep the mitzvos that don’t make sense to him), one must first break free of all constraints and boundaries. This is what Chassidus demands, and this is the Aleph-Beis of Chassidus: kabbolas ol and mesira-nefesh – the exodus from all constraints and boundaries – are the “beginning (not the end) of Divine service, and its foundation and root”
