בנוגע למשה ואהרן אמחז"ל "בכל מקום הקדים משה לאהרן, במקום אחד [בשני דפ' וארא] הוא אומר "הוא אהרן ומשה, מלמד ששקולין זה כזה". והענין: עבודתו של משה היתה בדרך מלמעלמ"ט. המשכות הענינים מלמעלה למטה, כמו התורה, ולכן גם ההשפעות הגשמיות שנמשכו על ידו היו באופן של אור. עבודתו של אהרן היתה בתנועה הפכית – מלמטה למעלה, שהעלה את בנ"י למעלה – זיכוך המטה. ועל זה אמרו ש"שקולין זה כזה". ובעבודה: לפעמים יכולים לפעול יותר ע"י השפעת אור ועניני התורה, ולפעמים יכולים לפעול ולהשפיע יותר ע"י הדיבור אודות הצורך לזכך את ענינים הגשמיים. אמנם, גם מעלת אהרן שהוא בשווה למשה – הרי התורה מגלה זאת ("הוא אהרן ומשה"), שזוהי ענינה של משה. וההוראה מזה, שתחילת הגישה בכל הזמנים ומקומות צ"ל ע"י השפעת האור בשופי, ואח"כ דוחה האור את החושך. וזוהי דרך החסידות בענין הפצת המעיינות חוצה.

Our Sages said regarding Moshe and Aharon, “Usually Moshe is mentioned before Aharon, but in one place [in the second aliyah of Parashas Va’eira], it says, ‘They are Aharon and Moshe.’ This teaches that they were equal.” Moshe’s mode of service was from above to below, drawing down the light of Torah from above. Therefore, the physical blessing that came through Moshe were also in the form of light. Bit Aharon’s mode of service was from below to above – elevating the Jewish people and thus refining physicality. Regarding this the Sages said that “they were equal.” In terms of Divine service: sometimes it’s possible to accomplish more by spreading forth light and Torah, and sometimes it’s possible to accomplish more by speaking about the need to refine and elevate physicality. But even Aharon’s quality, which is equal to Moshe – is revealed in Torah (i.e., in the words “they are Aharon and Moshe”), which is Moshe’s quality. The lesson is that in all times and all places, the beginning must be to bestow abundant light, and afterwards the light will dispel the darkness. This is the way of Chassidus in spreading the wellsprings to the outside.
