Supernatural Season 5, Episode 16, Dark Side of the Moon recap 🌙 Sam and Dean get shot by a couple of hunters and wake up in heaven, where they relive their favorite memories, reunite with old friends, and go looking for God, on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast. (Fun fact: the title is a nod to Pink Floyd's 1973 album.)

The episode opens with two hunters, Roy and Walt, blaming Sam for the Apocalypse and taking matters into their own hands. Next thing Dean knows, he's in the Impala reliving a Fourth of July with Sammy and fireworks, the lighting on Jensen's face just gorgeous. Cas calls through the radio (and then the TV, poltergeist-style) with a mission: find the Garden, and find an angel named Joshua who might know where God is. Along the way, the boys revisit their best memories, discover that Sam's favorites didn't always include Dean, and run into some very familiar faces.

In the lore segment, we dig into the axis mundi, the cosmic center connecting heaven, earth, and the underworld: sacred mountains like Mount Meru in South Asian cosmology and Himinbjörg in Norse myth, the Maya's first tree, Yaxche, the center pole of the Delaware Big House, and even the Milky Way. (Supernatural just went with a road.)
