🚀 Impact of #BTC ETF
- In pre-market trading on January 2, the stock prices of MicroStrategy, focused on Bitcoin, and cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase experienced significant surges following the rise in Bitcoin prices above $45,000 and the approaching decision deadline for the Bitcoin ETF on January 10. Coinbase shares saw a 6% increase, reaching $184.99, while MicroStrategy’s stock witnessed a notable 9.14% rise, reaching $689.11. Cointelegraph here https://lnkd.in/d_QHwzx9
❗ But there’s an update to ETF Eric Balchunas Senior ETF Analyst for Bloomberg mentioned via Twitter that new Grayscale Investments amendment just dropped. Clear language on cash only but still no AP named, just blanks where name should go. Not sure why since the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission wants to see it and they have been pretty cocksure about having one. Also, nothing on fee (that I could see). That’s a big open question too. Info here https://lnkd.in/dPb_q-_y
🔥 1st Jan: Hack
Cross-chain bridge initiative Orbit Chain fell victim to a “cyberattack,” resulting in the illicit withdrawal of over $80 million from its bridge. The project disclosed that an “unidentified access” occurred on Orbit Bridge, leading to the identification of approximately $84.5 million dispersed across multiple wallet addresses associated with the attacker. The pilfered funds consist of 26,741.6 ETH held across five addresses (equivalent to around $64.5 million at present market prices), along with nearly $20 million worth of the stablecoin DAI stored in three other addresses. ❗ A federal judge once more rejected Binance founder Changpeng Zhao
“CZ” Zhao’s plea for authorization to travel overseas while he awaits
sentencing for criminal charges in the United States. This decision, rendered
by Judge Richard Jones of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of
Washington represents the second instance in which Zhao’s request to travel abroad has been denied. Prosecutors contended that permitting the former Binance executive to travel posed a flight risk. Info via CoinDesk here https://lnkd.in/dUcRFA4g
