Supernatural Season 5, Episode 15, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid recap 🧟 The dead are rising in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and coming home to their families like nothing happened, and we meet Sheriff Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes) for the very first time, on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast. (The title is a nod to the 1982 Steve Martin comedy.)

The episode opens with a man (Troy Ruptash) climbing out of his grave and heading straight home. The boys roll into Sioux Falls to investigate a revenge killing tied to the resurrected man, and they meet the town sheriff, Jody Mills, who is NOT impressed with these FBI agents and recognizes Bobby's voice on the phone immediately. The boys realize Bobby already knows the dead are back... because one of them is living in his house. Bobby is happier than we've ever seen him, the house is full of pies, and something about this miracle feels very, very wrong.

In the lore segment, we ask: zombies or revenants? We dig into the revenant of Irish, Celtic, and Norse folklore, a corpse that returns to haunt the living, from Augustin Calmet's 1751 treatise on vampires and revenants to William of Newburgh's 12th-century tales, including a jealous husband from York who came back from the grave. Since Karen (Carrie Anne Fleming) was cremated, revenant fits this episode better than your classic zombie.

Dean: "Digger. Who gave you that name?"
Digger: "I did."
Dean: "You gave yourself your own nickname? You can't do that."
Digger: "Who died and made you queen?"
