Let Us Go unto The Other Side “A New Year’s Commitment” Focus Scripture: Matthews 14:22-31 v.22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. • Constrained – to force, compel, or pressure someone to do something; also, to limit or restrict someone from doing something. • Disciples – refer to believers, followers, or students of the gospel or one’s teaching/life. • Go – to depart from, to move toward to, to proceed in; in other words, there is more ministry to be done, or we are not finished!!! The previous verses with (Matt. 14:13-21), the feeding of the five thousand assured the disciples that Jesus could abundantly provide for their needs. Now in this passage, the disciples will learn that Jesus can protect and empower them as well. Jesus needed to continue his work and not cause political trouble. So, he sent everyone away.
