There are three factors that influence human behavior:
1. Needs
2. Wants
3. Values
Values are the most powerful of the driving forces. In order to achieve your goals, you must understand the ways in which you are motivated to act.
Top performers do what needs to be done whether they feel like it or not. As Peter Vidmar, Olympic Champion says, “To be an Olympic Champion you only need to work out two times. When you feel like it, and when you don’t feel like it.”
Lesser performers find reasons and excuses not to complete their tasks. They often seek feelings of comfort rather than feelings of success.
