Ep 238 - Jacob Pritchard Webb - It's better to keep looking forward
Description
Welcome to the second of our Festive five podcasts - Today we are going racing with former National Hunt jockey Jacob Pritchard Webb.
Jacob’s world changed dramatically in June 2020 when a race riding accident in France left him paralysed from the chest down.
I first spoke to the young jockey in August 2021, in Episode 78 about the fall whilst in Episode 79 he described his six months stay in a French hospital and his hopes for the future.
Today’s show covers Jacob’s new roles as a bloodstock agent, where he deals mainly in the National Hunt sphere, and as French racing expert working for Sky Sports Racing.
Plus, this inspiring young man chats about playing golf at the Mike Tindall golf day with the likes of Harry Redknapp, Damon Hill, and Lawrence Dallaglio and the £25,000 he raised for the Injured Jockeys Fund and the Matt Hampson foundation in July 2022 when he led a horse racing team on a 140-mile cross country cycle ride from Cheltenham to Newmarket. He also works on the family farm in Wales.
Finally, Jacob reflects on the past three years since his life changing accident. “It’s better to keep looking forward” says Jacob, which sums up this understated, but extremely likeable young man, who has done so much over the past two years.
