עה"פ ברביעי דפ' ויחי "ואגידה לכם" פרש"י ש"ביקש יעקב לגלות את הקץ וכו'", ולכאו' איזה תועלת הי' יוצא מזה, ואדרבה, אם הי' מגלה להם שעד היום, י' בטבת ה'תשמ"א, לא באה הגאולה, הי' פועל אצלם נמיכות הרוח באופן מבהיל וכו'?! ונקודת הביאור: אם הי' מגלה להם את הקץ ואומר להם שזה תלוי ב"זכו" – היו עושים כל התלוי בהם לזרז את הגאולה וכו'. וההוראה מזה לזמננו ש"כלו כל הקצין ואין הדבר תלוי אלא בתשובה" – שכ"א יתעורר בתשובה בפשטות, ולעשות כל התלוי בו להביא את הגאולה!

משיחת עשרה בטבת ה'תשמ"א

In Revi’i of Parashas Vayechi, on the words, “And I will tell you (what will happen at the end of days),” Rashi writes, “Yaakov sought to reveal the end-time etc.” Seemingly, what would have been the benefit of that? On the contrary, if he had revealed to them back then, that on this day, the 10th of Teves in the year 5741, Moshiach still wouldn’t be here – that would have been terribly demoralizing etc.?! The explanation is: If he had revealed the end-time to them, and told them that Moshiach’s coming depends on whether “they merited” – they would have done everything in their power to hasten the Redemption etc. The lesson for our time is that “all the end-times have passed, and the matter depends only on teshuvah” – that everyone should do teshuvah, and do everything in their power to bring the Redemption!
