❗ U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and Exchange Commission (SEC) has set a deadline of December 29, 2023, for spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) applicants to finalize their filings. At least 7 companies, including representatives from Nasdaq and Cboe Global Markets, have engaged with the SEC in pursuit of spot Bitcoin ETF approval. The SEC has requested at least two of these companies to submit their final changes by the specified deadline. The SEC has told issuers that applications that are fully finished and filed by Friday will be considered in the first wave. Anyone who is not will not be considered. 🌲 On Christmas Eve of 2023, Bitcoin achieved a new record in daily transactions and hashrate. Miners verified an unprecedented 723,459 transfers on that day, surpassing the previous peak of 710,579 verifications recorded on November 19, 2023. In addition to establishing a new daily transaction record on Christmas Eve, Bitcoin (BTC) miners reached a new
peak in the network’s overall hashrate. On December 24, the cumulative hashrate surged to 546 exahash per second (EH/s), a notable increase from the previous day’s 538 EH/s, coinciding with a network difficulty surpassing 72 trillion. This translates to an impressive rate of 546 quintillion hashes per second (H/s) or 0.546 zettahash per second (ZH/s).
