מבואר בדא"ח טעם החילוק בין נרות המקדש שהדליקו אותם ביום, ונרות חנוכה שזמן הדלקתן הוא "משתשקע החמה", כי החידוש דנרות חנוכה הוא שבכחן להאיר את החושך ולהפכו לאור, "וה' יגיה חשכי", עוד בזמן הגלות. וזוהי ההכנה לקיום היעוד ד"לילה כיום יאיר" בביאת משיח צדקנו. וזהו הקשר עם פ' השבוע – "ויהי מקץ שנתיים ימים", עפ"י פי' האריז"ל בזה שזה קאי על "ותעמוד לגורלך קץ הימין" – ביאת המשיח. וכיון שאנו נמצאים ברגעים האחרונים של הגלות הרי תיכף ומיד בא "קץ הימין".

Chassidus explains the difference between the Menorah in the Beis Hamikdash, which was lit during the day, and the Chanukah candles which are lit specifically “after sunset” – because the unique quality of the Chanukah candles is that they have the ability to light up the darkness and transform it to light – “Hashem lights my darkness” – even when it’s still exile. And this is the preparation for the fulfillment of the promise that “night will light up like day,” with the coming of Moshiach Tzidkeinu. And this is the connection to the parashah of the week – Vayehi mikeitz shnasayim yamim, based on the AriZal’s explanation that this refers to the keitz hayamin (“the end of days”) – “arise to your lot at the end of days” – the coming of Moshiach. And since we are in the final moments of exile, we will immediately have the end of days.
