Episode Details

Today's episode is a conversation I had with the wonderful Russell Mark, of the Pasadena-based husband and wife duo, The Nextdoors. Russell is also a long time performer, composer, sound engineer, producer, music camp director and was a very easy person to sit and talk to for just over an hour and a half!

I sat down with Russell on November 13 of this year and we talked about how to craft songs around a cello instead of a bass, how inspiration can often come from unexpected places, the sights and sounds of Pasadena, and whether or not Steve Ferrone is the nicest guy on the planet (spoiler: he is!). We also, of couse, talked about Tom Petty (a lot!) and his influence on Russell's music.

Please check out The Nextdoor's website here: https://nextdoorsmusic.com. You can find out his brilliant project The Title Trackers here: https://www.thetitletrackers.com and make sure you check out the fabulous "Awaken", which we talked a fair bit about during the episode: https://youtu.be/Crq3kY8jr4s and don't forget to go check all the social media places where you can find The Nextdoors. They're lovely people making really good music!

NOTE: There is a very small amount of profanity in this episode but it is not gratuitous.

A special thanks to Paul Zollo. Without his book, "Conversations with Tom Petty", this podcast wouldn't be nearly as much fun to research.
