חנוכה וי"ט כסלו קשורים עם גילוי והפצת פנימיות התורה: חנוכה ענינו "נס השמן", ו"שמן" רומז על פנימיות התורה ("לחם" ו"מים" (המוכרחים לקיום האדם) רומז על נגלה דתורה, "יין", ש"נכנס יין יצא סוד", רומז על פנימיות התורה, ובזה גופא "שמן" (ש"צף על גבי יין") רומז על "רזין דרזין"). אבל, לאחרי כל העילויים של ה"שמן" עצמו, כולל השמן שהי' "חתום בחותמו של כהן גדול", הנה התכלית היא "להדליק" את השמן ולהאיר על ידו את בית המקדש, ועי"ז – את כל העולם. שבזה מתבטא נס השמן דחנוכה – שלא זו בלבד שמצאו את פך השמן אלא ש"הדליקו ממנו שמונה ימים". וזהו גם שנר חנוכה "מצוה להניחה על פתח ביתו מבחוץ". וזהו "יתרון האור" שנעשה "מן החושך" דוקא בגאולת אדה"ז ממאסרו – הענין דהפצת המעיינות של "רזין דרזין" חוצה, ובאופן ד"יתפרנסון מיני'", שחודר בפנימיותו של האדם ומתענג בזה (כמו אכילת לחם ועניני תענוג).

Chanukah and Yud Tes Kislev are associated with spreading the inner dimension of Torah: the miracle of Chanukah occurred with oil, which symbolizes the inner dimension of Torah. (“Bread” and “water,” which are essential for human sustenance, symbolize the revealed dimension of Torah. “Wine” represents the secrets of Torah (when wine enters, a secret emerges”), and “oil,” which “floats on top of wine” represents the “secrets of the secrets.”) However, notwithstanding all the qualities of “oil” itself, including the oil that was “sealed with the seal of the Kohen Gadol” – the ultimate goal is to “kindle” the oil and use it to illuminate the Beis Hamikdash, and thereby, the entire world. And this is the miracle of the oil on Chanukah – not just that they found the jar of oil, but that “they kindled from it for eight days;” this is also why the Chanukah candles are placed “at the entrance of one’s home from the outside.” Similarly, this is the “superiority of the light” that emerged “from the darkness” when the Alter Rebbe was released from prison – the dissemination of the secrets of the secrets to the outside, and in a manner of being “sustained from it,” meaning that it permeates a person’s inner core and causes him enjoyment (like bread etc.).
