Power OF The Holy Spirit – Fr. Dave Pivonka

One of the struggles we have in the Church today is that we get exactly what we expect. We do not expect much as a people, parish, and community. We do not see the Lord do great things because we do not expect him to. If we open our world, we will see God do amazing remarkable things. We need the Holy Spirit. We would then see things that have been there all along, but we just weren’t aware of it. The Holy Spirit wants us to see a world that is supernatural. A world of power, grace, freedom, and mercy. The Holy Spirit is the one that opens that up. There is lot of anxiety in our world today.

‘May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.’ Romans 15:3 ‘Hope does not disappoint because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.’ Romans 5:5. Our hope is in God and that can only happen through the power of the Holy Spirit. Because of that we can go through trials and tribulations and not be disappointed. Our question to God then changes from ‘why is this happening’ to ‘what do you want me to see?’

Fr. Pivonka is a well-known Catholic speaker, author, Priest, and President.  He received his undergraduate degree in 1989 from Franciscan University and has since earned a master’s in theology a doctorate in education and an executive juris doctorate.  He was ordained in 1996 and after holding various positions at Franciscan University of Steubenville was elected President of the University in May of 2019.  Fr. Dave has served as Director of Post- Novitiate Formation for Franciscans and hosts the Wild Goose video series on the Holy Spirit, a documentary on St Francis of Assisi and Metanoia.  Fr. Dave is the author of 7 books including Living Metanoia and Finding Freedom and Fulfillment in Christ.  He is the host of Franciscan University Presents and host a popular pod cast, They That Hope.  Fr. Dave believes that God is laying a foundation for revival in our Church and that Franciscan University is being invited to be the center of that revival.

As we too pray for revival in our church, let us place ourselves in the presences of our Heavenly Father,
