Episode Details

Supernatural Season 5, Episode 8, Changing Channels recap 📺 The boys get trapped inside TV land, from an '80s sitcom with a laugh track to a Japanese game show, a CSI parody, and the greatest medical drama of all time, Dr. Sexy, M.D., on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast. And yes, the Trickster (Richard Speight Jr.) is BACK.

The episode opens in a cheesy sitcom, complete with a live studio audience, and it only gets weirder from there. Sam and Dean are bounced from show to show, forced to play their parts or die trying, while the Trickster pulls the strings and Cas tries to break through. But this time, the Trickster has a reason for all this, and a big secret of his own.

Episode Highlights:

• A witness insisting she saw the Incredible Hulk (the original TV version, not Bana or Norton)
• Dr. Sexy, M.D., the Grey's Anatomy parody (with a sweet nod to Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Denny)
• How Dean knows Dr. Sexy wears cowboy boots (Dean is a fan, and we love it)
• Boom, pregnant (we will never recover)
• Sam's Herpexia commercial
• The CSI: Miami parody, sunglasses at night and all
• Sam as the Impala, Knight Rider style
• The Trickster's switch from playful prankster to absolutely PISSED
• A reveal about the Trickster

In the lore segment, we dig into Archangel Gabriel across Christianity, Judaism, and Islam: the messenger who appears in the Book of Daniel, announces the birth of Jesus (boom, pregnant), and, as Jibril, reveals the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad, plus his roles as protector of parents and patron saint of messengers, from postal workers to journalists.

Castiel: "Hello, Gabriel."
Gabriel: "Hey, bro. How's the search for Daddy going? Let me guess. Awful."
