Description
Welcome back to the Hope Bible School verse-by-verse Bible study of 1 John. This is Jeff M Newman. Get a new lesson every other week on Monday at 12:00 PM Eastern.
In Lesson 23 we studied part 1 of “The Commandments of Jesus.” Now we are going to dive into part 2.
I encourage you to listen to the lessons over and over again.
Study the commandments of Jesus in depth.
Ask God to help you to understand the commandments and to give you the strength to obey them.
Let’s begin.
Be willing to make personal sacrifices for Jesus.
Matthew 19:29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for the sake of My name will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal life. (Mark 10:29-31)
Change yourself and become like little children. Approach God with childlike humility, trust, and openness.
Matthew 18:2-4 Jesus invited a little child to stand among them. 3 “Truly I tell you,” He said, “unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. (Mark 10:15)
Come to Jesus and believe in Him.
John 6:35 Jesus answered, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never hunger, and whoever believes in Me will never thirst.
John 7:37-38 On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and called out in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said: ‘Streams of living water will flow from within him.’ ”
Come to Jesus if you are weary and burdened.
Matthew 11:28 Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Come to the Father through Jesus.
John 14:6-7 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. 7 If you had known Me, you would know My Father as well. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.”
Come to the wedding banquet. God is inviting you to experience abundant blessings that He has prepared for you.
Matthew 22:4 Again, he sent other servants and said, ‘Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my dinner. My oxen and fattened cattle have been killed, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.’
Consider how the lilies of the field grow. Don’t worry about clothes or material possessions. God will provide for you.
