After the Battle of Gettysburg, there is a common misconception that nothing happened in the Eastern Theatre between Gettysburg and the Overland Campaign. However, this is simply not the case. In fact, the opposite is true. The Army of the Potomac and the Army of Northern Virginia clashed many times during what is known as the Forgotten Fall of 1863.
