The Eucharist- Part 3- The Presence- presented by Jimmy Seghers. The focus of this segment is on the presence. Jesus promised I will be with you always. It affirms a truth that Catholics have always believed: the blessed Eucharist is the source and the summit of the Christian life. The Eucharist presents the redemptive sacrifice of Christ on Calvary, and it also unites our modest offering of the sacrifice of Jesus, our head. The Catechism teaches our Lord’s presence under the humble appearance of bread and wine, and it raises the Eucharist above all the sacraments as the perfection of the spiritual life and the goal of all the sacraments. The power of the blessed Eucharist to transform us into Christ is astounding. The blessed Eucharist is designed to form saints. Jimmy shares historical evidence that the Eucharist is the true body, blood, soul, and divinity of Christ.

Jimmy Seghers was born in New Orleans. He was raised in a devout Catholic family. Jimmy has devoted much of his life to the pursuit of learning, teaching, and mentorship.

Jimmy joined the seminary after his sophomore year in high school. He earned his bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College with majors in Philosophy, History, Education, and Classical Languages. He followed this by completing a four-year graduate program in Theology and Sacred Scripture at St. Mary’s and earning a master’s degree in history from DePaul University.

Jimmy has taught Sacred Scripture and Apologetics (that is, the defense of the Catholic faith). Jimmy frequently gives retreats, parish missions, and talks on biblical subjects. He is seen on FOCUS with Lisa Flood discussing biblical and religious topics. His classes are approved by the Archdiocese of New Orleans for certification credits for religion teachers. Each week, Jim is heard on the Radio Maria network. He can also be heard each morning on Catholic Community Radio as he gives the daily Gospel reflection. His essays have been published in This Rock, the Clarion-Herald, and he contributed to a catechetical series published by Ave Maria University Press.
