Defence Minister Bill Blair delivers opening remarks as the 15th annual Halifax International Security Forum gets underway. The three-day conference brings together defence experts, political leaders, military officials, and academics from around the world to discuss pressing security challenges

At a news conference in Ottawa, Environment Minister Stephen Guilbeault announces a ban on the domestic trade of elephant ivory and rhino horn, as well as the import of hunting trophies containing these products. He is joined by Kelly Butler (campaign manager for Humane Society International/Canada), as well as Heather Craig and Janine Cavin (co-founders, Elephant and Rhino Defenders). Kenyan biologist Winnie Kiiru provides a video message. Following the announcement, Minister Guilbeault also takes questions on the recent federal court ruling against his government's ban on single-use plastic items.
