The purpose of God before the foundation of the world, was to provide salvation to all who would put their faith in Jesus.

When Jesus spoke of the new wine and wineskin, he was in fact referring to his own body. The intent of the 'old' covenant was to point us to the real sanctifying power. It was an illustration, to point us to Jesus.
