"כל מה שברא הקב"ה בעולמו לא ברא דבר אחד לבטלה", ועל האדם לנצל את כל הכחות שה' נותן לו במילואן. ולכן גם כאשר פועל יותר מאשר זולתו – הרי כל זמן שאין זה לפי ערך כחותיו, אין עבודתו בשלימותה. ולדוגמא אדם שהגיע למעמד מיוחד בחברה – בממשל וכיו"ב, אינו יכול להסתפק בכך שעוסק בעניני טוב ככל אדם, כי מה שהוא הגיע למעמד מיוחד זה אינו "כחו ועוצם ידו" אלא "ה' אלקיך גו' הוא הנותן לך כח לעשות חיל" כדי למלא שליחות הקב"ה שגילה ב"תורה אור", החל מקיום ציווי "ואהבת לרעך כמוך" ש"זוהי כל התורה כולה ואידך פירושה הוא זיל גמור"! וכמו שהוא בנוגע לממון ונכסים כפשוטם ובנוגע לכחות האדם – כן יש לנצל את הזמן שניתן לאדם במילואו ולהשתדל שאפילו רגע א' לא ילך לבטלה, וכמ"ש בזהר עה"פ [בשני פ' חיי שרה] "ואברהם זקן בא בימים", שכל ימיו היו שלמים וממולאים עם שליחותו בעולם – "לעשות צדקה ומשפט".

Today’s Rambam, the end of the Laws of Inheritance, states that “Although a guardian does not have to make an accounting . . . he must keep a personal account, being extremely precise, so as not to incur the wrath of the Father of these orphans, Him who rides in Aravos, as it is written, ‘Make a path for Him who rides in Aravos ... the Father of orphans.’” We must understand: 1) In the verse, what is the connection between Hashem being “Him who rides in Aravos” and being the “Father of orphans”? 2) In the Rambam, why does he specifically cite this verse, which calls Hashem, “Him who rides in Aravos,” rather than one of the earlier verses that also emphasize Hashem’s care for orphans, but uses the name Havayah and the like? The answer can be found in Chagigah [12b], which states that Aravos is the firmament “that contains righteousness; justice; tzedakah . . . and the dew that the Holy One, Blessed be He, will use to revive the dead.” Therefore, here, in his discussion about the care that must be taken in managing the property of orphans, the Rambam cites the verse “Him who rides in Aravos ... the Father of orphans” because this verse emphasizes His righteousness, justice, and tzedakah etc.
