Michelle Boland on Lessons Learned in Running and Coaching

Published 2 years, 5 months ago
Description

If you work with gen pop clients or runners that are struggling with nagging aches and pains, then this episode is a must-listen.

Dr. Michelle Boland is a certified strength and conditioning coach with distinction and owner of Michelle Boland Training, LLC.

Michelle was previously the Director of Education at a private training facility and has several years experience as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for a D1 collegiate institution.

Michelle specializes in movement biomechanics, athletic development, and improving fitness while addressing nagging pain or injuries that may be limiting performance.

And in this episode, I think there’s some great discussion about how to help these clients the most when it comes to writing their programs and training them in the gym.

When they walk in – BOOM! – they should feel like a part of the community. – Michelle Boland

This Week on the Physical Prep Podcast:

  • A little bit about Michelle and what she’s been up to since the last time she was on the show.
  • Michelle tries to help me understand her passion for running (which I tend to loathe)
  • The biggest gaps she sees when training runners, and how we can address those in the weight room.
  • Why focusing on foot contacts is such a critical piece of the puzzle for runners.
  • Michelle’s thoughts on moving from coach to client after working with Dan Sanzo.
  • Why EVERY COACH should put themselves in an environment where they are being coached.
  • The biggest lessons Michelle has learned training gen pop clients.
  • What she wishes she knew when she was training clients 5-10 years ago.
  • Thinking forward, how Michelle wants to grow and evolve over the next 5-10 years.
  • Thoughts on her “Can You See the Difference” IG posts, and why they’re so helpful to both coaches and clients alike.
  • A really fun lightning round where we talk about Coach Mike Boyle, favorite runs of 2023, and running goals for 2024.
