Ling was a chemistry major at the top university in China. The Harvard of China, if you will.
One day, Ling went into the shower and saw fist-sized clumps of hair fall to her feet. By the end of the semester - Ling would be wheelchair-bound, unable to speak, unable to use the restroom on her own, completely bald, and nearly blind.
She went from being one of the most promising students to having the mental age of a 6-year-old.
