מהפעולות הראשונות של אברהם אבינו היתה [מ"ש בשישי דפ' וירא]: "ויקרא שם בשם ה' א-ל עולם" "א"ת ויקרא אלא ויקריא" ‏–‏ שכל הדור יכריז ש"יש בעה"ב לבירה זו" וכו'. ועל יסוד זה נתייסד מדינה זו (ארה"ב) ע"י מייסדי המדינה, שיהי' להם מקום שיוכלו לחנך את הילדים ברוח האמונה בבורא עולם, ולא כמי שנמצא ב"רקיע השביעי" אלא שההנהגה היום-יומית תהי' חדורה באמונה זו, שלפני שעושים או לא עושים משהו ‏–‏ לחשוב מה אומר על זה הקב"ה! והטוענים שאם הממשלה תושיט יד לעזור בענין זה ה"ז היפך ה"קאָנסטיטושאָן" (חוקה של המדינה) וכו' ‏–‏ עליהם לדעת שההיפך הוא הנכון!

משיחת י' שבט ה'תשל"ה

One of Avraham’s first activities was [as it says in the sixth aliyah of Parashas Vayera]: “and he called there in the name of Hashem, G-d of the world” – “Do not read it as ‘and he called there,’ but ‘and he made others call’” – he caused his entire generation to proclaim that “this palace has a Master” etc. And it was on the foundation that this country [the United States] was established by its founders – to have a place where they could educate their children in the spirit of faith in the Creator of the world. And belief that G-d is present in this world, such that one’s day-to-day conduct is permeated with this faith, and before doing or not doing something – he first thinks about what Hashem says about it. Those who claim that it is “unconstitutional” for the government to assist schools who teach this must know that the opposite is true!
