עה"פ במגילה "ליהודים היתה אורה ושמחה וששון ויקר" מבאר אדמו"ר האמצעי ש"ששון" הוא כשהשמחה היא בהעלם. וזהו הקשר למ"ש בגמ' עה"פ ש"ששון זו מילה", כי השמחה ("קיבלו עליהם בשמחה") בקיום מצות מילה [שבפ' לך לך] היא בהעלם מפני "צערא דינוקא" ו"רואה דם בנו שנשפך". וזהו המענה לשאלה: למה קיימים בעולם, במצב ד"אכתי עבדי דאחשורוש אנן", ענינים המצערים, עד כדי כך, שאי אפשר להיות אז בשמחה בגילוי רק בהעלם, באופן ד"ששון", ואפי' לזה קשה להגיע?! התשובה לזה היא מצות מילה: מצות מילה קשורה עם "צערא דינוקא" ו"רואה דם בנו שנשפך", ואעפ"כ ה"ה שמח (בהעלם) בשעת מעשה, כי מבין שאין דרך אחרת ודוקא עי"ז נפעל הענין ד"ברית עולם בבשרכם" (כי ה' רצה שענין זה יבוא ע"י תקונו של האדם, נשמה בגוף, דוקא, ולכן לא נולד מהול), ועד"ז צ"ל בנוגע הצער בעניני העולם וכו'.

On the posuk, “The Jews had light and joy, and gladness (sason) and honor,” the Mitteler Rebbe explains that sason means hidden joy. This is the connection between the Gemara’s statement that “sason refers to milah” – because the joy (“they accepted it upon themselves with joy”) of a bris milah (Parashas Lech Lecha) is hidden, since the baby experiences pain and the father sees “his son’s blood being spilled.” Similarly, in the era when “we are still servants to Achashverosh,” there is pain in the world, to the extent that we can only experience hidden joy – sason – and even that is difficult to attain. But just as the mitzvah of milah involves pain, and nevertheless, one has (hidden) joy, because he understands that this is the only way to make an “everlasting covenant in your flesh” (because Hashem wanted us to perfect the world, which is why He doesn’t cause people to be born circumcised) – so, too, regarding the pain in the world etc.
