ביאור במה שנאמר לאאע"ה בברית בין הבתרים [בשישי דפ' לך לך]: "ועבדום וענו אותם ארבע מאות שנה ואחר כן יצאו ברכוש גדול": כל ענין הגלות (אינו לצער בנ"י ח"ו, אלא) הוא כדי שעי"ז "יצאו ברכוש גדול", שיתוספו עליהם גרים" - לגלות אלקות בכל מקום ומקום ולעשות מהתחתונים דירה לו ית', ולקרב כל יהודי ליהדות גם אם הוא נמצא בפנה נדחת בעולם וכו'. ולכן כשא' טוען הרי נמצאים אנו בחושך כפול ומכופל, ובשביל מה להתעסק לקרב איזה ילד/ה ליהדות או לעורר יהודי שיוסיף בקיום תומ"צ וכו'? - הוא מוותר על ה"רכוש גדול", העיקר שיצאו כבר מה"ועבדום וענו אותם"! עליו לדעת האמת - בלי ה"רכוש גדול" הרי כל ה"ועבדום וענו אותם" הוא ללא תועלת! ועד"ז בנוגע להכוונה בירידת הנשמה למטה בכלל.

משיחת י' שבט ה'תשל"ד

During the Bris Bein Habesarim [in shishi of Parashas Lech Lecha] Hashem told Avraham Avinu: “and they will enslave them and oppress them for four hundred years, and afterwards they will go out with great possessions”: The whole point of exile (isn’t to cause pain to the Jewish people, chas v’shalom, rather it) is for them to “go out with great possessions” – “so that converts will join them” – to reveal G-dliness everywhere, to turn this lowest world into a dwelling for Hashem, and to draw near every Jew, even in a far flung corner of the world etc. Therefore, when a Jew says, we’re in a dark and bitter exile, why must I focus on influencing another Jew to increase in Torah and mitzvos etc. – one must know the in truth, without the “great possessions,” it’s as though the whole exile is for naught! And the same applies in general to the soul’s descent into this world.
