עילוי נפלא בז' מר-חשון עפ"י מ"ש הש"ך "לעולם אין פוסקין תענית בה"ב קודם ז' מרחשון". והביאור: ענין תענית בה"ב הוא להשלים את הענינים שהיו חסרים במועדי חודש תשרי וכו', ועפ"י המבואר בדא"ח הטעם שאומרים תחנון דוקא לאחרי תפילת העמידה כי דוקא כשהאדם מתעלה לדרגא נעלית יותר ה"ה בא לידי הכרה במצבו האמיתי ושעדיין חסר בעבודתו וכו', ועוד יותר: יכול להיות יהודי שמעמדו ומצבו האמיתי הוא בתכלית השלימות ואעפ"כ בעלותו לדרגא נעלית יותר שוב אינו במעמד ומצב של שלימות [וזהו גם הביאור במשארז"ל "כל ימיו בתשובה"]. ועפי"ז יובן גודל ההפלאה דז' מר-חשון, שדוקא אז מגיע האדם לשלימות הכי נעלית ונדרשת ממנו ענין של תשובה וכפרה!

משיחת כ' מר-חשון ה'תשד"מ

The Shach states that “a Beha”b fast is never set before the 7^th of Cheshvan.” This alludes to the remarkable quality of the 7^th of Cheshvan: The purpose of Beha”b is to fill in anything lacking from the month of Tishrei etc.; we can understand this based on the explanation in Chassidus that the reason we say tachanun after Shemoneh Esrei is because it is only upon reaching the pinnacle of davening that he can recognize his true spiritual state and that he is lacking. (Moreover, it’s possible that one’s true current state isn’t lacking, but from the perspective of the higher level he reaches, he is lacking – which explains the dictum that one should live “all his days in teshuvah”). Similarly, we can understand the greatness of the 7^th of Cheshvan: this is when we reach such a high level that teshuvah and atonement become necessary.
