Why Supreme Court's same-sex marriage verdict is a letdown
On Tuesday, a five-judge Constitution Bench headed by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud unanimously declined to recognise same-sex marriages. The judgement came as a significant disappointment to the queer community, which has been advocating for marriage equality and the associated rights, such as those concerning pension, gratuity, property transfer to one's spouse, and the right to adopt.
