On March 10, 2012, fifteen-year-old Annie Kasprzak slipped out of her family’s home in Draper, Utah, to meet fourteen-year-old Chris Bagshaw. Before leaving, she wrote a note to her parents claiming she had lied to her friends and planned to run away to California.

By the following morning, Annie’s bloodied shoes and backpack had been discovered near the Jordan River, but her disappearance was initially treated as a runaway case. Conflicting stories, misleading evidence, and a series of devastating investigative mistakes sent authorities searching in the wrong direction while Annie’s family waited for answers.

It would take four years before anyone was finally held accountable for what happened that night. This is the tragic story of Annie Kasprzak and Chris Bagshaw—a case of teenage obsession, calculated lies, and murder.
