א' מהפסוקי זכרונות שאומרים בר"ה הוא בשלישי דפ' נח: "ויזכור אלקים את נח ואת כל החי' גו'. וזה הביא להענין ד"כריתת ברית" עם נח. וביאור הענין יובן עפ"י המבואר בכ"מ שישנם ג' "כריתות ברית": 1) עם נח על קיום העולם, "לא אוסיף עוד להביא עוד מבול". [אע"פ שגם העולם הוא "בשביל ישראל שנק' ראשית", והעיקר בבני-נח הוא בנ"י, ועד שאפי' הענין דקיום ז' מצוות דב"נ נמסרו במ"ת לבנ"י שהם ימסרו אותם לב"נ]. 2) עם אברהם ("ברית בין הבתרים") שהיתה קשורה עם תומ"צ. 3) עם משה רבינו ("הנה אנכי כורת ברית") על ענין התשובה. וזה שהי' שייך הענין ד"כריתת ברית" עם נח, אע"פ שזה הי' לפני מ"ת וביטול הגזירה ד"עליונים לא ירדו למטה וכו'", הוא רק מפני הענין ד"ויזכור אלקים את נח ואת החי' וגו'" – המשכה ממדרגה נעלית ביותר שלגביו "אדם ובהמה" שווין, וכ"ז – מצד ה"אהבה פנימית ועצמית" של הקב"ה לבנ"י (ולנח).

One of the pesukim we say in the Zichronos on Rosh Hashana appears in the third aliyah of Parashas Noach: “And Hashem remembered Noach and all the animals etc.” Hashem “remembering Noach” led to His making the covenant with Noach etc. We can understand this based on the idea that there are three covenants: (1) The covenant with Noach regarding the existence of the world – no to bring another Flood (although the world too, exists “for the sake of the Jewish people who are called ‘first,” and the main descendants of Noach are the Jewish people, to the extent that the 7 Noachide laws were given at Matan Torah to the Jewish people to give over to the nations). (2) The covenant with Avraham, the Bris Bein Habesarim, which had to do with Torah and mitzvos. (3) The covenant with Moshe Rabbeinu (“behold I make a covenant”) regarding teshuvah. The reason it was possible to make a covenant with Noach, even though it was before the Torah was given, and before the abolition of the decree that “the higher realms shall not descend to the lower realms” etc. is only because “Hashem remembered Noach and the animals etc. – drawing down from a place so high that “man and animal” are equal, and all this is because of Hashem’s “inner, essential love” for the Jewish people (and before them, for Noach).
