Description
Supernatural Season 4, Episode 19, Jump the Shark recap 🦈 A young man named Adam Milligan (Jake Abel) calls John Winchester's old phone looking for help finding his missing mom, and the boys learn the shocking truth: John had another son. Meet the secret Winchester half-brother on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast. (The title comes from the moment the Fonz literally jumped a shark on Happy Days. Look it up.)
Dean is convinced it's a trap, so the boys test Adam with holy water and silver. He passes. Then he proves he's John's kid in the most heartbreaking way: by telling them about the father who took him to baseball games, and all the things John never did with Sam and Dean. While Sam leans hard into being the big brother and teaching Adam to hunt, Dean wants him as far away from this life as possible. But something in this town has been digging up graves, and something about Adam's story isn't quite right.
Episode Highlights:
- Adam's mom with a photo of... Jeffrey Dean Morgan (daddy!)
- John took Adam to a baseball game. Jensen's face. We cried.
- Jake Abel's great performance (that haircut, though)
- Sam loving his new role as the big brother who gets to teach
- Dean going full John McClane in the air vents
- Adam's beginner's luck at target practice (or is it?)
- Dean smashing a stained glass window and pulling himself up through the roof (they KNEW what they were doing)
In the lore segment, we dig into ghouls, the grave-robbing, flesh-eating creatures of Arabic folklore: their filth-tipped claws, their deadly bite, and their nastiest trick, shapeshifting to lure in their victims, plus the ghoul-human hybrids of Brian McNaughton's Throne of Bones.
Dean: “You know, I finally get why you and dad butted heads so much. You two are practically the same person. I mean, I worshipped the guy, you know; I dressed like him, I acted like him, I listened to the same music. But you were more like him than I’ll ever be. I can see that now.”
Sam: "I'll take that as a compliment."
Dean: "You can take it any way you want." (Ooh, burn.)
