Sushma Subramanian is a freelance journalist and associate professor at the University of Mary Washington in Virginia. Her writing on science and health has appeared in Slate, The Atlantic, Scientific American, and Discover. She has twice been a finalist for the Livingston Award for Young Journalists and was the winner of a Newswomen's Club of New York Front Page Award. She is the author of the recently published book, How to Feel: The Science and Meaning of Touch, which is the subject of today’s interview.
