Episode Details

Supernatural Season 4, Episode 17, It's a Terrible Life recap 👔 Meet Dean Smith, Director of Sales and Marketing, and Sam Wesson, tech support, two corporate drones at Sandover Bridge and Iron who have never met... until a ghost starts killing their coworkers, on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast. (Yes, the title is a nod to It's a Wonderful Life.)

Our drink: Cimarron tequila and Sprite Zero (not a fan, honestly). Dean Smith loves his juice cleanses and his tie, and Sam Wesson is miserable answering IT calls in his cubicle. But employees are dying in strange ways, Sam keeps having dreams about hunting monsters, and the two of them, who are strangers, can't shake the feeling they're meant to do something else. Who's pulling the strings here? Stick around.

Episode Highlights:

• The Easter eggs: Dean's dad Bobby, mom Ellen, sister Jo, and Sam's fiancée Madison
• Sam Wesson in the tech support trenches (have you tried turning it off and on again?)
• Sam doodling monsters while Googling the supernatural
• The two strangers deciding to investigate together
• Upgrading to Windows Vista (we're so sorry)
• The boys learning ghost hunting 101 from the Ghostfacers website (douche nozzles, they called them!)
• Sam's dramatic karate kick through the door of Room 1444 (Dean was impressed)
• Our 21st blood splooge of the series, courtesy of an elevator
• The subtle color changes throughout (we KNEW it)
• The mastermind reveal at the end

In the lore segment, we dig into the real-life inspiration for It's a Wonderful Life: Seneca Falls, New York, the town many believe inspired Bedford Falls, and Antonio Varacalli, the Italian immigrant whose real act of heroism on a bridge may have inspired George Bailey.

"Details are everything. You don't want to go fighting ghosts without health insurance." – Dean Smith
