Ontario Auditor General Bonnie Lysyk investigated the Ford government's decision to remove 15 areas of land from the protected Greenbelt for housing development. The report concluded that the selection process was not transparent or objective and found that certain developers had direct access to political staff involved in choosing the properties. The Auditor General estimated that the removal of the lands could increase their value by approximately $8.3 billion.
