«Pausepraten Dokumentar»: I den første delen av «Historien om Bill Shankly» reiser vi til Ayrshire i Skottland, nærmere bestemt Glenbuck og det som er igjen av Shanklys hjembygd. Der møter vi Barbara Alexander, Shanklys niese, som forteller om livet i den fattige men vidunderlige landsbyen rundt gruvene.

I Glenbuck vokste fotballfabrikken Glenbuck Cherrypickers frem, som produserte fenomenalt mange profesjonelle spillere. Men Shankly selv spilte aldri en offisiell kamp for dem. Eller gjorde han?

Vi snakker også med Jon Colman om Shanklys tid som spiller i Carlisle United, og Ian Rigby om Preston North End – klubben hvor Shankly avsluttet sin karriere som spiller, på ganske bittert vis.
