Description
Supernatural Season 4, Episode 11, Family Remains recap 🏡 A family moves into their dream farmhouse in Nebraska for a fresh start, and something is living in the walls, on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast. Fair warning: this one is DISTURBING. Plus, it's our midseason episode, so we've got some housekeeping (and some love for our listeners)!
First, thank you for the new Apple Podcasts reviews from WriteSoftly, Theresa, Campy One, Frostback Lumberjack, Michelle (Geeky Moose), and Dean's Math Teacher! Then it's on to the episode: a realtor is murdered inside a room locked from the inside, and the boys show up just as the Carter family is moving in, sassy Uncle Ted (Bradley Stryker) included. Sam and Dean try to get the family out, but the family's dog goes missing, the moving van won't start, and little Danny (Dylan Minnette) swears a girl who lives in the walls said he could stay. Meanwhile, Dean is relating to this case a little too much.
Episode Highlights:
- New listener reviews! (Richard Speight Jr. stans, we see you)
- Uncle Ted calling BS on the boys at every turn
- The dog licking a hand... that wasn't the dog
- Phil Sgriccia's camera work making the in-the-walls shots so believable
- The salt circle that didn't work like we expected
- The rat. We will never be okay about the rat.
- Dean's determination to save Danny himself
- Dean's roadside confession to Sam about hell (no tears, just YIKES)
In the lore segment, we bypass the real-life horror Dean calls ripped from the Austrian headlines, the Fritzl case, and discuss true stories of phrogging, people secretly living in other people's homes: a South Carolina woman's ex hiding in her attic, a man found in a UNC Greensboro student's closet wearing her clothes, a woman who lived in a Japanese man's cupboard for a year, and the reverse Santa of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
"I'm telling you, man. Humans." – Dean Winchester
Your turn, hunters: Scarier, ghosts or people? (This episode made the case for people.) And how did Dean's confession land for you? Tell us in the Spotify comments, leave a rating and review on Apple Podcasts (it's how new hunters find us, and we might read yours on air!), or send us fan mail. Bonus points for fandom fun facts we missed.
