כיון ש"ראש השנה" הוא ה"ראש" של כל השנה והנהגת האדם במשך כל השנה תלוי' בהנהגתו בראש השנה, לכן יש לנצל כראוי ב' הימים דר"ה, ועד"ז יש לנצל כראוי כל שעה מימי ההכנה לראש השנה;ראש השנה הבעל"ט חל ביום השבת. וההוראה: ביום השבת, שמתחיל עם מצוות הדלקת נרות ע"י נשי ובנות ישראל, נראה גם בגלוי ובחיצוניות שהאדם אינו מתעסק עם עניני העולם ועניני חולין וכו' ויש לו יותר זמן להסתכל בספר וכו', ועד"ז צ"ל העבודה המיוחדת במשך כל השנה שה"ראש" שלה חל ביום השבת כו'.

Since Rosh Hashanah is the “head” of the entire year, and a person’s conduct all year depends on his conduct during Rosh Hashanah, it is important to properly utilize the two days of Rosh Hashanah, and likewise, to properly utilize every hour of the days leading up to Rosh Hashanah. This year, Rosh Hashanah falls out on Shabbos. The lesson: Shabbos begins with Jewish women lighting Shabbos candles, when it is openly visible that a person isn’t involved in mundane matters, and has more time for learning etc.; similarly, when the “head” of the year falls out on Shabbos, that must affect the “body” – the entire year must be Shabbosdik etc.
