Recent opposition to President Guillermo Lasso's Organic Law on Communications mandate has raised tension in Ecuador.

Following the signing of the draft by Lasso on Monday, which mandates "the prohibition of advertising sports betting houses in Ecuador", LigaPro criticised the President’s decisions, arguing they jeopardise its title sponsorship with bookmaker Bet593 and its affiliation with the National Lottery.
