Description

Brenden Schaeffer discusses the Cardinals 4-2 loss to the Pirates in 10 innings from Friday, September 1, 2023.

Dakota Hudson did what he does -- got a lot of ground ball outs and didn't strike out a living soul in seven innings. The bats went back into hiding aside from a mammoth shot to center field by Willson Contreras (hello, Freese's Lawn). The defense also cost the Cardinals in a truly bizarre top of the 10th inning.

Can the Cardinals continue to live and die by the number of pitch-to-contact guys in the pitching staff -- even when they're doing well, it seems like a tricky way to live.

Plus, Adam Wainwright's next start is being pushed back to set up a scenario that honestly feels a little nightmarish on paper, but we can explain to the best of our understanding exactly why it is happening.
