Brenden Schaeffer discusses the dismal weekend by the St. Louis Cardinals in Philly and tackles the common trope being thrown around lately regarding the team's performance: Knowing where they are at this stage of the season, have the Cardinals started mailing it in?
Oli Marmol has historically pushed back against the notion that effort is not being given by his team, and he mentioned the concept again in Sunday's postgame.
Brenden is actually inclined to agree with the St. Louis manager on this topic, too, as he articulates why it's perhaps not so sensible for fans to immediately jump to the 'effort' accusations. BUT, Brenden also explains that if it's not effort lacking for the team (especially offensively during a stretch that has seen just 25 runs over its last 11 games), then there are some sincere conversations that need to be taking place regarding the recent execution of the club at the plate.
