If there's one thing we can all agree on, it's that there are few things as satisfying as an underdog getting her dues, and perhaps that's why you'll find a Cinderella story for nearly every culture in the world. This episode, Sam and Shami join me in discussing a number of picture books that tell the Cinderella stories that come from Ancient Egypt, South Africa (with illustration inspiration from Zimbabwe), Ancient Persia, and the Algonquin people, and all the threads that remain constant in one of storytelling's most successful formulas, and all the little things that make these stories unique.
