Brenden Schaeffer discusses Miles Mikolas after his latest loss for the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night in Philadelphia. The Phillies beat the Cardinals, 7-2. Mikolas is 0-4 in August and has his highest season-long ERA since joining the Cardinals. After turning 35 this week, it begs the question of how much the Cardinals should reasonably be relying upon Mikolas to be great in 2024. Should they stock a rotation that leaves Mikolas as one of the latter names in the group of five--or will he be pushed toward the front of the rotation again next season?
Plus, the Cardinals have a prospect in Double-A who is absolutely tearing the cover off the ball. He did it again Friday, perhaps cementing himself as the best hitter in all of the Texas League at this point.
